PHNOM PENH (1 Jan 2018) – Boeung Ket FC made it two in a row in the Metfone Cambodian League when they added the 2017 crown to the one they won last year.
But what made the victory sweet for Boeung Ket was the fact that they had to battle for 135 minutes before they were able to claim the title from a hardworking and determined National Defence Ministry.
The defending champions won 10-9 on penalties after the score was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and extra-time.
It was Boeung Ket who drew first with an early goal from defender Sok Sovann before Army fought back with the equaliser through Kim Kyong-hun in the 69th minute.
