PHNOM PENH (3 Oct 2013) – Boeung Ket Rubber Field FC have decided to build their own stadium after initial plans to refurbish the old Kampong Cham Stadium was not approved by the Ministry of Education.
“We had already improved the pitch at the old stadium in the city but our contract was terminated because the Ministry of Education wanted to develop it themselves. So, now we decided to build our own stadium within the Beoung Ket rubber farm with the new stadium to be named LONG SRENG STADIUM,” said Boeung Ket general manager Be Makara.
Boeung Ket FC had already re-turfed the old stadium and had hope to continue work on the stands and dressing room before the order from the ministry to stop work.
But with just three months to go to the start of the new Metfone Cambodia League, Be Makara is optimistic that the Long Sreng Stadium will be ready in time.
“We will try to finish construction before the first game of the league. First, we will have to get the playing field ready before working on the dressing rooms for players,” he added.“The second stage will see us build the grandstand and also a souvenir shop.”
