JAKARTA (29 Nov 2009) – Attacking midfielder Boaz Solossa could well make the difference for Indonesia when they open their campaign at the SEA Games in Laos next month.
Boaz, who emerged as the Most Valuable Player and also grabbed the Top Scorer award in the Indonesia Super League (ISL) last season, has joined the Indonesia U23 team under the guidance of head coach Alberto Bica from Uruguay. “Boaz is slightly injured at the moment when he suffered a pull in his left thigh during a match for his Persipura club last week. So we will rest him a bit and the doctor will decide when he can start training with the team,” said Gabriel Anon, the assistant coach of the U23 squad. In the meantime, team captain Tony Sucipto is hoping that Boaz will make a speedy recovery. “He is a quality player and he has a lot of international experience. With him in the team, it will motivate the players to play better. And it will also make the other teams to be cautious against us,” said Tony. The Indonesia U23 team will leave for Laos tomorrow with their first match in the biennial championship against Singapore on 5 December 2009. |
