BINH DUONG (5 Nov 2014) – Binh Duong FC have won the inaugural Toyota Mekong Club Championship when they beat Myanmar champions Ayeyawady United 4-1 in the final that was played at the Go Dau Stadium.
Oseni Bolaji had opened account early in the fifth minute before Thiha Zaw replied for Ayeyawady just four minutes later.
Nguyen Anh Duc then grabbed a double with goals in the 45th and 67th minute as Le Tan Tai then made sure that the game was beyond reach with the fourth goal of the game in the 74th minute.
Binh Duong – who had beaten Cambodian champions Phnom Penh Crown 5-2 earlier to book their place in the final – pocketed USD75,000 for the title.
Laos’ HAGL Attapeu FC finished fourth in the competition after losing to Phnom Penh Crown in the fight for third place.
