HANOI (10 July 2014) – With just four more matches to play for to the end of the V-League 2014, current league leaders Becamex Binh Duong have offered a carrot of VND5 billion (US$235,000) to their players if they can lift their third crown since 1997.
Binh Duong, which was known as Song Be FC prior to 1997, had won the V-League in 2007 and 2008.
But after taking over the top spot this week from defending champions Hanoi T&T, the team management felt that it is about time that a monetary reward was offered.
After 18 matches, Binh Duong have amassed 39 points – the same as Hanoi but who have played a game less.
Other than the cash offer from the club management, league organizers VPF will also fork out VND4 billion (USD 188,000) as the prize money as well as an additional VND1 billion (USD 47,000) from sponsors.
