HANOI (Oct 1, 2007) – Binh Duong FC captured the Vietnam League title in style when they completed the fixtures at the top of the standings with eleven points to spare.
Defending champions Dong Tam Long An had to settle for the second spot behind Binh Duong having collected just 44 points from 26 games. Third was Hoang Anh Gia Lai with 41 points while fourth was DPM Nam Dinh who garnered 38 points. Having already guaranteed the title the week before, Binh Duong ended their season on a high when they celebrated in front of their home fans with a fabulous 1-0 win over Khanh Hoa in the final game of the season. Brazilian striker De Lima scored the only goal of the match which was played at Binh Duong home turf of Go Dau Stadium. At the other end of the table, third from bottom Hoa Phat Ha Noi will have to be in the play-offs against An Giang – who finished third in the lower First Division – to decide which team will be relegated and which team will play in the V-League for the new season. As of now, Dong Thap and Huda Hue – the two teams at the bottom of the V-League table – will be relegated to the First Division while the Cong Viettel and Van Hoa Hai Phong will be promoted to the V-League. The Cong Viettel, who were relegated to the lower division back in 2004, took the crown in the First Division this year while Van Hoa Hai Phong came in second. FINAL V-LEAGUE STANDINGS 1.
