HANOI (May 21, 2007) – Binh Duong has opened up an eight-point lead at the top of the V-League in Vietnam this weekend even though the league is just approaching the end of the first round next week.
From 12 matches played thus far in the top flight, Binh Duong has scored 27 points from eight wins, three draws and one defeat. On second is Da Nang who has amassed 19 points from five wins, four draws and three wins while Binh Dinh is a rung lower with identical 19 points but on a lesser goal difference. Two goals from Brazilian Kesley Alves in each half of the match gave Binh Duong a well-deserved 2-0 away win over Huda Hue on the weekend at the Tu Do Stadium. They will wrap the end of the first round of the V-League next week with an away game against Khatoco Khanh Hoa, who is currently eighth in the standing. On the other hand, Da Nang’s form at home suffered further uncertainty where following their 1-1 draw against Hoa Phat Ha Noi last week; they conceded a 2-0 defeat to Binh Dinh yesterday. Da Nang will be away to GM M Nam Dinh for their last game in the first round while Binh Dinh will be looking to pick up full points at home against Song Lam Nghe An. CURRENT V-LEAGUE STANDING 1.
