BANGKOK (2 May 2009) – On the day when CAT Telecom took over the top spot in the Thai Futsal League 2009, defending champions Port Authority of Thailand scored their biggest win of the season with a 6-2 thrashing of Suratthani.
CAT Telecom, who have been consistently on the chase of the leadership, could not have gleaned the points with more satisfaction than by beating leaders I AM Sport 5-2 on the day. Despite falling to a seventh minute strike from Francisco Jackson in the seventh minute, CAT Telecom bounced back to find the equalizer just a minute later through Guilherme Da Silva. From then on, it was all CAT Telecom as they then scored two quick goals through Rogerio Moreira (11th and 17th minute) to take a 3-1 lead at the half. And while Tum Timanon did manage to score the second goal for I AM Sport in the 27th minute, there was no denying CAT Telecom the win and the top spot at the standings when Alongkorn Pratoomwong slammed two more goals in the closing stages (36th and 39th minute). With I AM Sport slipping down to fourth and Chonburi Bluewave strengthening their second spot with a 5-2 victory over Bangkok Glass, defending champions Port Authority of Thailand finally stole some limelight with a 6-2 whipping Suratthani. While Suratthani scored the first goal of the game through Natee Tusiri in the second minute, Port Authority tightened up their attacking play to blast in six goals through Manus Mutdawha (6th minute), Nopporn Setura (32nd), Wiwat Sriyanong (36th), Jadet Punpoem (38th), Natawut Mudyalan (39th) and Suchin Eamchalat (39th). Royal Thai Navy were also big winners on the day when they pounded Rattana Bundit University 8-2. The scorers for Royal Thai Navy were Dumrong Phusomneuk (4th,7th and 30th minute), Jetsada Chudej (8th,17th and 34th) and Chakrit Deejai (36th) while Tanakorn Piyapreechayut scored an own goal in the 30th minute.
