KORAT (4 November 2024) – Indonesia put nine past Cambodia as Myanmar held Australia to a 3-3 draw in the opening matches of Group B of the ASEAN Futsal Championship 2024.
Firman Adriansyah got the ball rolling with the lead after just two minutes as an own goal from Cambodia’s Sachakboth Setha a minute later doubled the advantage.
Indonesia would finish the first half on 6-0 with goals from Samuel Eko Putra Tampubolon (5th), Mochammad Iqbal Rahmattulah (9th), Wendy Brian Lindrey lck (15th) and Guntur Sulistyo Ariwibowo (19th).
Muhammad Syaifullah would put Indonesia further ahead in the 31st minute, as Mochammad Iqbal then added his second of the day and Muhammad Nizar Nayaruddin adding the final goal of the game with five minutes remaining.
In the meantime, Myanmar battled Australia to a 3-3 draw in the other match of Group B.
Wade Matthew Giovenali gave Australia the lead after just four minutes as Myanmar then replied through Mai Soe Myat Htwe in the ninth minute.
Australia would be 2-1 in front at the break when Ethan De Melo struck the second goal with a minute left of the first half.
Myanmar then drew level 2-2 when Naing Linn Tun Kyaw found the back of the next just three minutes after the restart.
Even though Giovenali managed to restore Australia’s advantage with their third goal in the 29th minute, there was no stopping Myanmar from stealing the point through Htut Wai Tun’s 38th minute effort.
In Group A, Vietnam picked up their second win with a 2-0 victory over Malaysia as Timor Leste beat Brunei Darussalam 5-3.
