BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (11 March, 2008) – AH United and Wijaya FC were big winners on the ninth match day of the Brunei Premier League as they look to strengthen their position in mid-table.
AH United made short work of Kasuka FC with a 4-0 win while Wijaya FC slammed home five goals against NBT FC for a well-deserved 5-1 victory. After a shaky start at the JBS Sports Complex, AH United finally found the rhythm in the 32nd minute to score their first goal off Radiman Abd Rahman as they stole a 1-0 lead at the break. Growing in confidence in the second half, they did not take too long to add to their tally when Khalil Saab slammed home in the 50th minute before Radiman Abdul Rahman added the third goal of the evening two minutes later. Former international Rosaidi Mohd Khamis then made sure that the match was beyond reach of Kasuka with the fourth and final goal in the 78th minute. With the win, AH United are fifth at the table with 14 points from nine matches. Wijaya FC on the other did not suffer such drama at the Balapan Sports Complex as they took a 4-0 lead at the break with goals coming off Ak Md Aleshahfezan (11th minute), Marhazif Ahad (20th minute), Masuri Hayat Alimin (34th minute) and Jamrin Johari (44th minute). Aleshahfezan scored his second goal of the evening in the 73rd minute as Azuan Metassim then pulled a goal back for the visitors eight minutes to the end. The win allowed Wijaya to be on tenth at the table while NBT FC and Kasuka FC remain entrenched at the bottom of the standings. BRUNEI PREMIER LEAGUE 1. ABDB 25pts (+25) 2. QAF FC 24pts (+26) 3.
