PHNOM PENH (28 Jan 2014) – Cambodian big boys Phnom Penh Crown FC and Naga Corp FC made a big start to their campaign in the Metfone Cambodia League 2014 when they thumped their respective opponents to take the first and second spot of the new season.
Crown humiliated Asia Europe University 4-0 at the National Olympic Stadium on Saturday while Naga thrashed Ministry of National Defence 3-0 at the same venue a day later.
With the score tied at the end of the first half, Crown finally turned on the blitz to find the back of the net off Leng Makara, Bin Chantha Thierry, George Bisan and Khim Borey’s penalty right at the end.
On the other hand, Naga Corp fired in all three goals in the first half to earn themselves a fabulous win off goals from Jang In Yong, Tieng Tiny and Sun Sovannrithy.
Elswhere, another former champions Boueng Ket also had a lively start to their campaign when they beat newcomer Albirex Niigata 4-1 at the Old Stadium.
Chan Vathanaka grabbed a hat-trick as Sok Pheng grabbed the other for Boung Ket while Kazuki Tatsuta pulled a goal back for Albirex.
General Commissariat of National Police edged Kirivong Sok Sen Chey 2-0 while debutants TriAsia were held to a 1-1 draw by Build Bright United.
