BANGKOK (6 July 2014) – BEC Tero Sasana took over the lead in the Thai Premier League (TPL) 2014 following their close 1-1 away draw against defending champions Buriram United at the I-Mobile Stadium.
Playing at home gave Buriram all the confidence they needed as they pressed the visitors right from the start before opening account off Jakkraphan Kaewprom rifling effort in the 21st minute.
But BEC Tero did not wait too long to find the equalizer when Daiki Iwamasa nodded in the ball off Rangsan Wiwatchaichoke’s free-kick eight minutes later.
After 22 matches, BEC Tero have picked up 44 points – a point ahead of second-placed Buriram. On third is SCG Muang Thong United with 43 points who will take on Police United later today.
Elsewhere, relegation strugglers PTT Rayong beat Samut Songkhram 3-2 as hosts Ratchaburi fell to a 3-1 loss to Chonburi at the Ratchaburi Stadium.
