JAKARTA (10 November 2023) – With just hours to Indonesia’s first match in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup 2023, captain Muhammad Iqbal Gwijangge wants the fans to be the 12th man and make their opponents nervous.
Indonesia will open their campaign in Group A of the FIFA U17 World Cup against Ecuador later tonight at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya.
“Because we are playing at home, I hope that the supporters can be the 12th man at the stadium and make our opponents nervous because of the roar of the stadium,” said Iqbal.
“Maybe it will have an effect because the match will be played at high intensity. So I ask for the support from the Indonesian populace from all walks of life.”
The other teams in Group A are Panama and Morocco.
Other than the Gelora Bung Tomo, the other stadiums in use for the event are the Jakarta International Stadium or JIS (Jakarta), Si Jalak Harupat Stadium (Bandung), and Manahan Stadium (Solo).
