PETALING JAYA (21 October 2014): The high-octane action throughout the Malaysian League this season has made this year’s 100PLUS-Astro Arena-FAM National Football Awards even more eagerly anticipated as football fans wait to find out who will voted the best.
This year’s awards ceremony will be held on 13th November, just afer the Malaysia Cup final and less than a week before the start of the AFF Suzuki Cup.
As usual, the awards ceremony marks the end of the end of the football season. And fans of the number one sport in the country will want to know if their heroes are chosen as the winners of the various categories.
As always, the biggest question will be who will win the prestigous Most Valuable Player of the Year award.
“There are many established names which have been shortlisted for the main prizes. I also hope there are some younger players who have made a strong impression this year who may be nominated,” said Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin, the General Secretary of the FA of Malaysia.
“The competition has been keen in the last few years and I expect it to continue once again this year. As always, we are thankful to our sponsor 100PLUS who has once again come forward to support this event.”
For the record, the Most Valuable Player Award in 2013 was won by midfielder Mohd Badhri Radzi (Kelantan). There will be an additional award this year for the Best Assistant Referee, making it 14 awards in total that will be given out on the day.
Ms Cariessa Goh, the Corporate Affairs Manager with F&N Beverages Marketing Sdn Bhd, added that 100PLUS have been a long-term sponsor of FAM and football in Malaysia.
“We have been supporting this event since 2008 because we realise the need to reward those players who perform well. We are committed to helping the game in the country and will continue suporting the Malaysian League and FAM in the future,” added Cariessa.
Towards making sure that only the best are considered for the annual 100PLUS-Astro Arena-FAM National Football Awards, a selection panel consisting representatives from the Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM) and officials from FAM came up with a list of shortlisted candidates.
The list is then distributed to the coaches and managers of teams playing in the Super League and also the Premier League. The coaches and managers will vote for the various individual awards.
