HANOI (2 Feb 2012) – A football for free community programme has been initiated in Vietnam with the youth exposed to the same programme as Barcelona’s La Masia Academy.
Players between the age of 6 to 14-years-old will be exposed to the training method through a partnership programme between FC Barcelona, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and also the AVG Company.
Other than in wanting to help develop junior footballers, the aim is also geared towards scouting young Vietnamese talent as part of a larger plan to establish a Barcelona training school in Vietnam.
It is expected to attract 200 to 300 people in two one-week courses under the instructions of the club’s coaches at the Young Football Training Centre in Hanoi in June. The Catalan coaches will also teach six to eight of the best local trainers so they can help instruct players during the course.
Each coach will be in charge of training 12 players. According to Marce Xavi, director of the programme, there is no problem with different levels.
“Each class will be divided into groups and every group will practise with their own exercises,” Marce said.
“We desire a long-term commitment with the VFF. I hope the programme will support the youngsters to pursue football in the future.”
“There are two training ways in the world – professional academies such as with Arsenal and Liverpool, and community training courses that clubs like Barcelona have done,” added VFF Deputy Chairman Nguyen Lan Trung.
