JAKARTA (9 August 2009) – Sriwijaya FC have dropped their aspiration of drawing Indonesian international striker Bambang Pamungkas to their side for the new Indonesian Super League season.
The Copa Dji Sam Soe 2009 champions admitted that they failed to reach a mutual understanding with the Persija Jakarta front man. Hendri Zainuddin from Sriwijaya FC said that the decision to stop the negotiation was made after Bambang failed to come to an agreement and seems to be prolonging the discussion. “We have already stopped the negotiation. There is still no final word from Bambang (pix) and we have to realise that the dateline to submit our final line-up is quite soon,” said Hendri. “Furthermore, his asking price is a bit much where he wants us to meet his current pay packet which is USD 130,000 a year. We have our own policy of paying national players. And our offer is definitely above the USD 100,000 annually.” Following the breakdown of talks with Bambang, Sriwijaya are now focussing their attention on signing a big name Asian player instead. |
