SINGAPORE (7 Sept 2009) – Singapore international defender Baihakki Khaizan is seriously considering a move to play for Persija FC in the new Indonesia Super League (ISL).
Currently attached to Geylang United FC in the S-League, Baihakki still has some two months to go to the end of his contract. “It is an honour to be recognised by teams from around the region,“ said the 25-year-old Baihakki (pix). “The offer is very good when compared to what is offered by teams in the S-League but I have to consider it from every possible perspective. “But it is the prospect of playing in a big league like the Indonesia Super League which has prodded my interest and not the pay packet on offer. A competitive league will allow me to develop as a better player at the national level.“ With Geyland United still in the campaign of the Singapore Cup, Baihakki will need to get the green light from his club to join Persija early as they prepare for the new Indonesia Super League season which begins in November 2009. |
