PETALING JAYA (1 March 2010) – Malaysia scored their first win in 2010 when Badrol Bakhtiar struck in the second half to give them a 1-0 win over Yemen in a friendly that was played at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
With the Malaysians already out of contention for a place in the 2011 Asian Cup, head coach K. Rajagobal is looking at forming a team capable of putting up a challenge at the Asian Games in China and also the Asean Football Championship at the end of the year. Badrol, who passed a late fitness test, scored the only goal in the game in the 55th minute. The Malaysians had conceded a 1-0 loss to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in their last 2011 Asian Cup qualifying match last month. For the match against Yemen, Rajagobal had called on eight new faces although he fielded only Mohd Ashaari Samsuddin in the starting line-up. |
