HANOI (20 March 2014) – The Vietnam Under-19 team was given a dose of reality in their European sojourn when they were handed with a 9-0 hiding at the hands of U19 Tottenham Hotspur.
As compared to how these two teams fared at the Nutrifood Cup two months ago when Vietnam conceded only a 3-2 loss, this time round things did not turn out as planned for coach Guillaume Graechen.
The young Spurs side scored four goals in the first 20 minutes with Shaquile Coulthirst’s nailing a hat-trick before the English side added five more goals after the break.
The loss was Vietnam U19’s first in the trip following their 3-0 win over U19 Arsenal in their first friendly and then a 1-1 draw against U19 Coventry City and also 2-2 deadlock with U19 Wimbledon.
The team’s next match will be against U19 Wolverhampton.
