HANOI (20 Aug 2008) – A 4-0 win over Boss Binh Dinh has given Becamex Binh Duong back-to-back titles in the V-League as they romped to yet another fine season with five points to spare over second-placed Dong Tam Long An.
Striker Philani nailed a hat trick in the match while rightback Quang Thanh scored the other goal for the well-deserved victory. With the win, Becamex Binh Duong have become only the third club in the history of the V-League to win a back-to-back titles – after Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Dong Tam Long An. Becamex Binh Duong started their home game against Boss Binh Dinh with three points clear of Haiphong Cement, who lost the pace against the league leaders when they faltered to a 2-0 loss to Hoang Anh Gia Lai. The loss pushed Haiphong Cement to third place with 41 points. In the other matches, Hoa Phat Hanoi conceded a 2-0 loss to Dong Tam Long An, while Hanoi ACB went down 2-1 to Nam Dinh. Southern Steel Saigon Port edged out The Cong 1-0, Khatoco Khanh Hoa were held to a 1-1 draw by Thanh Hoa and Song Lam Nghe An beat Da Nang 2-0. |
