MANILA (26 July 2018) – Ceres Negros FC picked up their second Philippines Football League (PFC) crown in two years after amassing 54 points from 22 matches played.
And this week, Ceres Negros celebrated their PFL title with a 6-1 rout of Global Cebu FC at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium on Wednesday night.
Striker Bienvenido Maranon grabbed a hat-trick for Ceres with goals in the 23rd, 70th, and 88th minute as Mike Ott, Omid Nazari and Blake Powell scored the others.
Global Cebu’s only goal came off Marvin Angeles’ 48th minute strike.
With the win, Ceres recorded 17 wins, three draws, and just two losses with three matches still to play.
“The team deserved this title. I think during the whole League, they played the best football and I think we really deserve it,” said Ceres Negros head coach Risto Vidakovic.
