MANILA (6 Dec 2011) – The Philippine national team will be back in training in January 2012 in preparation for the AFC Challenge Cup campaign where they will be up against North Korea, Tajikistan and India in March.
“We start training in January. We have two and a half months and we will be working very, very hard,” said Michael Weiss, the chief coach of the Philippines.
Despite losing 6-1 to LA Galaxy in their last friendly, Weiss remained confident that his team is on the right track for 2012.
“We have to work on our conditioning. Physically, we could see that many players, after 60 minutes, dropped extremely,” he said. “There is also a lack of concentration, we make simple mistakes.”
“We are not in the comfortable position to get all the professionals, I am working very hard to get at least some of them. At the same time, I work with the locals and the players based in the Philippines.”
