HANOI (6 Jan 2015) – Even without superstars Le Cong Vinh and Phan Anh Duc, defending champions Becamex Binh Duong FC were still a handful as they stamped their authority to blast Toyoata V-League newcomers Dong Thap 6-1.
Nguyen Trọng Hoang (39th and 49th minute) and Nguyen Tang Tuan (63rd and 86th minute) nailed a brace each after goals from Cheikh Abass Dieng in the tenth minute and Trịnh Quang Vinh in the 21st minute.
The only goal from Dong Thap came off Samson Kpenosen right at the end.
But while Dinh Duong had a grand start, former champions SHB Da Nang and Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) did not fare as well.
Da Nang fell to a 2-1 loss to Thanh Hoa while SLNA were pulverized by Vicem Hai Phong.
Following a first-half deadlock, it was Da Nang who went ahead after 51 minute through Gomez Candelaro Melquiades. But Thanh Hoa struck back off Hoang Dinh Tung in the 67th minute and Cao Sy Cuong in the 79th minute.
On the other hand, SLNA fell at home off three goals from Errol Stevens in the 16th minute, Vu Thanh Tung (42nd minute) and Andre Diego Fagan (62nd).
