PETALING JAYA (March 9, 2007) – Australia will be taking part in the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Futsal Championship for the first time ever in Bangkok from March 26-31.
Australia, which gained membership into the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in 2006, has been placed in Group A of the meet alongside last year’s losing finalist Indonesia, Philippines and Malaysia. Group B will feature defending champion Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei and Myanmar. All matches for the AFF Futsal Championship will be played at the Hua Mak Indoor Stadium.
