Athletico Madrid to Play in Singapore

SINGAPORE (13 May 2013) – Primera Liga’s Athletico Madrid will take on a Singapore Selection side in a friendly that is to be played on 22 May at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

The Singapore team will feature players from the successful side that captured their fourth AFF Suzuki Cup crown last year, plus several additions from players in the S-League.

“We have assembled a squad comprising of young and experienced players, of whom have competed against top teams in recent years. I am also looking to give the young players a chance to showcase their potential on this big stage,” said coach V Sundramoorthy.

“This is part of the FAS’ Strategic Plan to further develop and enhance the local players’ footballing abilities with international game exposure. I am confident that the players will give their all for this challenging encounter against a top European club.”
