SINGAPORE (14 Dec 2021) – It will be a keen contest between Cambodia and Laos when the two sides clash in Group B of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020 tomorrow evening at the Bishan Stadium.
Without a point to their name thus far, both teams will be out to grab the first full points of their campaign this year.
Cambodia are currently fourth in Group B after two matches while Laos are fifth from three games played.
Cambodian head coach Ryu Hirose said the target is for the win although precaution will also be in place for Laos striker Billy Ketkeophomphone.
“We have analysed the Laos matches and we can see that they are quite disciplined in their defending. So we have to get behind their defenders tomorrow,” said Hirose.
“We have to keep ball possession and dominate the game. The players have to show more confidence when they are with the ball.
“As for their No. 21 (Billy), we will have to make sure that he does not get free rein. He is an experienced player who has been playing in Europe, so we have to be careful.”
On the other hand, Laos striker Kydavone Souvanny said that he is hungry for more goals after snatching the first goal for his country in their last game against Indonesia.
“For sure, I will try to score again. We will try to beat Cambodia,” said Kydavone.
Added Laos head coach V. Selvaraj: “we want to win the game against Cambodia but we will not go all out in the attack.
“We still have to find the balance between attacking and defending as Cambodia have more experience than us.
“The game against Malaysia taught us a lot and the need to find the balance and adjust. The players must do well in this game as there’s only pride to play for.”
