BANGKOK (20 Oct 2012) – The AFF Suzuki Cup next month will have just four Nike-sponsored teams following the move by the Thai national team to sign up with Grand Sport as the new kit supplier for the next three years.
The four teams that are still being sponsored by Nike are defending champions Malaysia, former champions Singapore and Vietnam as well as Indonesia.
It seemed that the total offer of THB 96 million (USD 3.1 million) to the FA of Thailand (FAT) over the three years was too good to pass up. Nike’s sponsorship of the FAT had officially ended in September this year.
Nike had been sponsoring Thailand since just before the AFC Asian Cup in 2007. It is believed that Grand Sport will be looking at a more retro look for the new design of the Thai national team shirt.
