SINGAPORE (6 Nov 2012) – The Singapore national team has gone to Japan to begin their final phase of preparation for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 which will begin in less than three weeks.
The three-time ASEAN champions brought with them 24 players where apart from training alone, they have also lined up a game against J-League side Shimizu S-Pulse on 10 November at the Miho Ground in Shizuoka.
“To play against opponents of such quality is good for us as it will be a good learning experience. Although we will be playing against a club side, the level of intensity will be very high,” said Singapore captain Shahril Ishak.
After the match against Shimizu, the Lions will then leave for Cebu, Phlippines where they will then play a friendly against the hosts on 15 November at the Cebu City Sports Complex Football Field.
Following their return to Singapore, the team will then take on Pakistan on 19 November at the Jurong West Stadium.
