SINGAPORE (19 Dec 2012) – Singapore snatched an early lead when they were awarded a penalty just eight minutes into the game. Mustafic Fahruddin converted the penalty to provide Singapore a slender lead at the break.
Defender Piyaphon Buntao brought down Alexander Duric in the box and referee Toma Masaaki did not hesitate to award the penalty. Thailand suffered a blow in the 26th minute when skipper Panupong appeared to sustain a back injury.
