BANGKOK (12 Dec 2012) – Datuk K. Rajagobal was optimistic while Winfried Schaefer will be relying on teamwork when Malaysia take on hosts Thailand in the second-leg, semi-final of the AFF Suzuki Cup that will be played tomorrow night at the Supachalasai Stadium.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference this afternoon, Rajagobal said that while the team did not get the result they wanted in Kuala Lumpur, still there is another 90 minutes to play for.
“Nothing is impossible. But it is important for the players to show how bad they want this (to be in the final). It is up to the players to show if they are hungry enough,” said Rajagobal.
“We have to raise the level of the game from the first leg. We are here and we do not fear to play against Thailand. The players must show character in wanting to win.
“Today is the final training so we will have to do what is necessary against Thailand.”
With Schaefer banned from bench for the game tomorrow, the German said that the team will be relying on teamwork to get the team through to the final.
He said that while the team may have gotten a good result in Kuala Lumpur, still they would want to make sure that they win the second leg in front of their home fans.
“It will not be easy but I want to win,” added Schaefer. “We may just need a draw but it will not be good enough for our fans. We need to win to show our character and our strength.
“We struggled somewhat with Malaysia’s good long crosses and obviously, we need to do something about it. We need to cut it out at the source.”
The sold out match at the Supachalasai Stadium kicks off tomorrow night at 1900hrs.
