BANGKOK (29 Nov 2012) – Append below are the quotes from the pre-match Press Conference for the match between Thailand and Vietnam tomorrow. The match will be played at the Rajamangala Stadium with kick-off at 2020hrs.
Winfried Schaefer – Thailand chief coach
“We have good preparation for this game. We have analysed Vietnam’s friendlies and we found that they had played well against some of their opponents.
They are a good, strong team but Vietnam will have to play hard as they need the three points.
But we will also be playing for the three points; I just don’t like to lose. Our players must fight although there will be some concerns with yellow cards and injuries.
Phichitphong (Choeichiu) is suspended while a few others like Adul (Lahsoh) and Chonlatit (Jantakim) are on one yellow card. We need these players for the semi-finals. Pipob (On-Mo) is not 100%.
So we will see after training this evening.
We are a team of 22 players, not only 11 players on the field. We need all players to be at their best. They must show to the people that I am Thai and I want to win.”
Ngo Le Bang – Vietnam team manager
“Our situation is clear, after the draw and then the loss. Our chance (to qualify into the semi-finals) is narrow.
We are playing the host team, a strong team. The other result might have an effect on us. So we hope that we can win for sure.
We have to play very well with good performance. We have to concentrate on the right tactic and show that we can play a good game.
We have to work and not disappoint the fans. We must protect the colours.
Teams that have already qualified (like Thailand) would want to protect their players considering suspension and injuries.
But like what the Thai coach said all players are equal but I think that sometimes substitutes play better.
We want to play our game and win.”
