BANGKOK (26 Nov 2012) – Append below are the quotes from the pre-match Press Conference for the match between Myanmar and Thailand tomorrow.
Tin Myint Aung – Vietnam assistant coach
“Thailand is for sure a stronger team than us but we will try our best.
I don’t think that we can expect anything too early as afterall anything can happen in football. Just look at what happen to Malaysia last night.
Pressure is everywhere but the players have to keep cool and play their best. That is important.
We have looked at the Thailand game and we have identified the strength and the weakness of the team. What they are, we will see tomorrow.
It is true to say that we have not beaten Thailand in 30 years but that is at the senior level. We beat Thailand in the Under-22 qualifiers recently and that shows that in football, anything is possible.
So we have to forget history and concentrate on the game against Thailand. We cannot think of the past when there’s still the game to play for.”
Winfried Schaefer – Thailand chief coach
“Myanmar have an exerienced coach (in Park Sung Hwa) and he has instilled a lot of discipline in the team.
There are no longer small teams and it will not be easy against Myanmar. We need to play at the same level (as we did agains the Philippines) and we will need luck.
Football is South East Asia is no longer easy as everyone is making improvements. That is good.
The results from Group B proved that football is improving fast and where the next level is to close in on Japan.
Situation on Datsakorn (Thonglao)? He has undergone therapy and we will see tomorrow. He did not play so well with Muang Thong but he has been inspirational for Thailand. He is the brain in the team.
My thoughts on Kyi Lin (from Myanmar)? He is a good player but to stop him we have to prevent the build-up. That will be the key.
