JAKARTA (20 Nov 2012) – With government funds still uncertain, a fundraiser organised by the FA of Indonesia (PSSI) last night yielded IDR 1 miliar (USD 104,000) for the national team’s campaign ahead of the AFF Suzuki Cup next week.
“We are making an approach for entrepreneurs and businesses to come forward and support the national team and also Indonesian football,” said Halim Mahfudz, the general secretary of the PSSI.
“The fund that has been raised will be used to finance the team for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012. We have little choice but to do this fundraiser as the government has yet to disburse the money for the administration of the national team.”
Other than accepting gifts from individuals wanting to support the national team effort, the fundraiser also saw several Indonesia national team jerseys being auctioned off.
