JAKARTA (3 Nov 2012) – Nil Maizar, the chief coach of Indonesia, is not about to start the blame game ahead of the several cancellations his team had faced over the last week.
The expected friendly against the Philippines on 9 November in Bali was called off while last minute replacement Sudan could also not make the trip to the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on 14 November despite giving confirmation earlier that they will make the trip east.
With the two cancelations, Nil is left with just the friendly against Timor Leste on 10 November in Jogjakarta.
“It is disappointing for sure,” said Nil (pix). “We need matches but I think that it is not productive to be pointing fingers. I’m sure that the PSSI (FA of Indonesia) are doing all they can to make sure that we have these test matches which are so important to our preparation for the AFF Suzuki Cup.
“We need two more friendlies after this game against Timor Leste.”
In the meantime, Vietnam scored two wins out of two against Malaysia when they beat the defending ASEAN champions 1-0 in the friendly that was played at the My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi tonight. The only goal came in the 74th minute off Trong Hoang.
Two months ago Vietnam – the 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup winners – had beaten Malaysia 2-0 in Kuala Lumpur with goals from Le Cong Vinh and Phan Thanh Hung.
