JAKARTA (13 Nov 2012) – Nike has unveiled the new kit for Indonesia, ahead of their challenge for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012.
Made from recycled plastic bottles, the new Indonesian shirt has ‘the Garuda’ on the left chest – a symbol of motivation for the country while the mantra ‘Bhineka Tunggal Ika’ is imprinted on the inside.
It also has elements of green on the sleeves and also at the bottom of the shirt, taken from the national team colours of the 1950s.
“Nike Indonesia is proud to be part of the country’s football history,” said Nino Priambodo, Country Marketing Manager, Nike Indonesia. “It is not just about introducing a new product to the market but our aim was to also signify the nationalism, pride and also the fighting spirit of the Indonesian national team as they aspire for success.”
Added Halim Mahfudz, the general secretary of the FA of Indonesia (PSSI): “we are proud to be part of this event with Nike to unveil the new shirt for the Indonesia national team.
“We always want to do our best for the national team and this new colours from Nike could not have motivated the team at a better time as they chase for honours for the country at the AFF Suzuki Cup.
The new Indonesia national team shirt will go on sale on 15 November 2012 and is priced at IDR 649,000 (USD 67) each.
