KUALA LUMPUR (20 Nov 2012) – Draw again. Things are certainly not on the up for defending ASEAN champions Malaysia when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Bangladesh in a friendly that was played tonight at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
It was the first drawn game between the two sides in seven meetings.
The Malaysians, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Hong Kong last week, were a lot more determined in the opening stage with chief coach Datuk K. Rajagobal putting in perhaps his best eleven in the tie.
After some sustained pressure, Malaysia finally scored in the 23rd minute when Khyril Muhymeen Zambri headed in the corner from captain Safiq Rahim.
With Malaysia not able to make any of their chances count in the second half, Bangladesh gained a penalty seven minutes to the end that was converted by Jahid Hasan Ameli when he sent Malaysian keeper Farizal Marlias (pix) the wrong way.
In the meantime, Laos were held to a scoreless draw by Krabi FC in their second friendly at the Krabi Stadium. In the first test match two days ago, Laos scored a close 1-0 victory.
The Laos national team will leave for Kuala Lumpur on 23 November 2012.
