BANGKOK (22 Nov 2012) – Vietnam chief coach Phan Thanh Hung said that the key to whether they can win their second ASEAN crown this year will depend on whether they can beat Myanmar in their opening game of Group A of the AFF Suzuki Cup this Saturday evening.
The 2008 champions are already in Bangkok over the last few days for final reconditioning.
“The match against Myanmar is very important. It will give us a mental boost (for the remaining matches) if we win,” said Thanh Hung. “The team is ready for the event. I thank the fans for their support, and I hope we can live up to expectations.
“Our regional rivals are getting better and better, but we know what we have to do.”
Other than Vietnam and Myanmar, the other teams in Group A are hosts Thailand and the Philippines.
