BANGKOK (23 Nov 2012) – Vietnam’s 2008 hero Le Cong Vinh has looked beyond the challenge of the other teams when he said in no uncertain terms this week, that the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 crown will be decided by either Vietnam or Thailand.
Speaking after Vietnam’s training session Cong Vinh – who scored the winner to give Vietnam their first ever ASEAN crown in 2008 (pix) – said that while the other competing teams might try hard, ultimately it will be a Vietnam-Thailand final come 22 December 2012.
“Thailand will try their best at the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012, as they failed in 2008 and 2010,” said the 27-year-old Cong Vinh. “And since they are playing at home, Thailand will have the best chance to get into the semi-finals.
“There is a positive feeling around our team, and we want to bring home the title. We’ve had to overcome some difficulties, but we’re in good shape, and I hope to hit form in the tournament.”
The other teams in Group A are Myanmar and the Philippines.
