KUALA LUMPUR (17 Dec 2012) – Even though he still has the desire to lead Malaysia for the qualifying round of the AFC Asian Cup 2015 early next year, chief coach Datuk K. Rajagobal has decided to leave his fate at the hands of the FA of Malaysia (FAM) to decide if they still want to continue his service.
“I have a contract until the end of 2013 and I am already looking at having two friendly matches ahead of the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers,” said Rajagobal.”And I also plan to make some tweaking to the side that played at the AFF Suzuki Cup. Other than that, it is up to the FAM to decide on my fate with the national side.”
Malaysia, the defending champions of the AFF Suzuki Cup, were drummed out of the semi-finals of the biennial championship on a 3-1 aggregate loss to three-time champions Thailand.
The Malaysians have been placed in Group D of the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers against Qatar, Bahrain and Yeman. They will begin their campaign against Qatar in February 2013.
