YANGON (14 Oct 2012) – Concerns over the readiness of the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil for the final round competition of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 next month has been put to rest by Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad, the general secretary of the FA of Malaysia (FAM).
Datuk Azzuddin said at the 6th AFF Council meeting (for the session 2011-2015) this morning (pix) that the field at the 100,000 capacity National Stadium will be playable by the time the blue riband event of the AFF Suzuki Cup begins next month.
“The National Stadium will be ready and I would like to give the AFF council the assurance that we are ready to host the AFF Suzuki Cup,” said Datuk Azzuddin (extreme right in pix).
Over the last several weeks, there were issues being raised on the availability of the National Stadium where it has been reported that the pitch is not quite playable following a recent re-turf.

And this unavailability has forced the FAM to change the venue of the Malaysia Cup final this year which is slated for 20 October to be played at the Shah Alam Stadium instead.
Malaysia will be hosting Group B of the AFF Suzuki Cup on 25 November to 1 December 2012. The defending champions will take on Indonesia, Singapore and Laos.
Group A are hosts Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and Myanmar.
