YANGON (30 Nov 2016) – After disposing 2010 champions Malaysian, Myanmar are now aiming for a bigger scalp when they take on defending champions Thailand in the first leg semi finals of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016.
Myanmar will take on Thailand on Sunday at the Thuwunna Stadium with the hope of a good result – enough for the return tie in Bangkok four days later.
“We will match Thailand,” said Zeise. “If there’s anything which the team showed in the win over Malaysia, it was that our players have the quality to be competitive.
“But having said that, I also hope that the fans be realistic and do not pressure the players. It is pressure enough already playing at this level at home. So I hope that the fans remain strong behind us.”
Myanmar made the semi-finals of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 after 12 years after finishing as runners up from Group B.
Their record in the group stood at two wins (over Cambodia and Malaysia), no draw and 1 loss (against Vietnam).
