VIENTIANE (25 Oct 2012) – Army beat Police 6-5 in the much dreaded penalties for the former to lift the Vientiane Mayor’s Cup this week. The game had ended 1-1 at the end of regulation.
This year’s Vientiane Mayor’s Cup saw nine teams from the Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Public Security and Vientiane-Hanoi Friendship College taking part.
“The competition is a good way to encourage young football talent to play competitively, with some players using the competition as a platform to gain entry into the game at national and international level,” said Saithong Keoduangdy, the vice Mayor of Vientiane.
Following their impressive performance in the Vientiane Mayor’s Cup, both Army and Police teams will play in the Lao League 2013.
