MALANG (6 Feb 2013) – Former champions Arema Cronus took the lead in the Western Conference of the Indonesian Super League (ISL) 2014 when they scored an emphatic 5-0 win over Persik Kediri at the Kanjuruhan Stadium here in Malang.
The heavy downpour failed to dampen the spirit of perhaps the best supported team in the league when they duly found the opener right at the half hour with Thierry Gatthuesi stabbing in the freekick from Indonesian international Ahmad Bustomi.
Nine minutes later, Alberto Goncalves then found the back of the net as Arema trooped off confident on a 2-0 lead.
Four minutes into the second half, Gustavo Lopez was on sight as Cristian Gonzales then trumped a double with strikes in the 57th and 68th minute for the final score line.
