JAKARTA (8 May 2011) – Arema Indonesia, the defending champions of the Indonesia Super League (ISL) is for sale – for IDR20 miliar (USD 2.3 million).
Arema president Rendra Kresna said this week that the current cub management has little choice but to put the cash-stricken club up for sale to a third party, possibly to entrepreneurs, investors or investment board.
“Whoever is interested, they can come forward and see us. But whoever decide to buy Arema, they should maintain the team’s home base in Malang,” said Rendra.
Up to this point, Arema’s debt is USD 583,000 with players’ salary outstanding for one and a half month.
“The financial crisis is hitting Arema badly and it is affecting our preparation for the AFC Champions League match against South Korean side Jeonbuk Motors,” Rendra added.
