SURABAYA (26 Jan 2015) – Arema Indonesia made the final of the SCM Cup 2015 – thanks to the solitary strike from veteran striker Cristian Gonzales which gave them a 1-0 win over Persebaya Surabaya in the semi-finals that was played at the Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium in Jakabaring last night.
With the win, Arema will take on Sriwijaya FC in the final that will be played tomorrow at the Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium, following the latter’s close 2-1 victory over Persela Lamongan in the other semi-final tie.
Arema had to throw in everything they had against a speedy Persebaya side as both teams battled to a scoreless draw at the end of the regulatory 90 minutes.
But Gonzales turned saviour for Arema in extra-time when he latched on to a 99th minute cross from Hasim Kipuy for the only goal of the game.
