JAKARTA (4 June 2010) – Arema Indonesia were crowned champions of Djarum Indonesia Super League (DISL) 2009/2010 following their 5-1 thrashing of Persija Jakarta 5-1 in their final game of the season at the Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno.
The win allowed Arema to end the season at the top of the pecking order with 23 wins, four draws and seven losses for a total of 73 points. Arema, who were already crowned league champions following their 1-1 draw against PSPS Pekanbaru the previous week, still started with their best eleven under the guidance of chief coach Robert Albert. And following their confident start, Arema slammed home the lead in the very first minute of play through captain M. Yasir before adding the second goal of the game just before the break through a penalty conversion off Pierre Njanka. Persija came out stronger after the break and striker Bambang Pamungkas duly scored for the score to be at 2-1 at the hour mark. But that was to be the only bright spark for Persija as Arema then grabbed the remainder off their goals off a brace from Roman Chmelo in the 66th and 74th minute and then Noh Alam Shah in the 71st minute. |
