VIENTIANE (23 August 2009) – The old National Stadium in Vientiane is ready to play host to the Group B matches of the men’s football of the SEA Games at the end of the year following the recent refurbishment work.
The Anouvong Stadium as it is now known has been fully repaired and refurbished by the Lao government and where it will be ready for the opening of the 25th SEA Games. It has a capacity of 8,000 with special areas for up to 100 VIP guests. Laos will be playing host to the biggest regional sporting tournament on 9-18 December 2009. While Group B will be playing all their matches at the Anouvong stadium, those in Group A will be placed at the newly built National Stadium which has a capacity of 20,000. The semi-final matches will be played at the Anouvong Stadium while the final has been scheduled for the new National Stadium. The Anouvong Stadium will also be playing hosts to one group of women’s football and the venue for the final match. |
