JAKARTA (29 Nov 2008) – Hosts Indonesia will be utilising an all out attacking formation when they open their campaign in the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008 next month.
Benny Dolo, the head coach of the Indonesia national team, said that with his aim of winning the biennial championship for the first time ever, there is little choice but to pull back no punches in every game they play. “With our status as the hosts, we have no choice but to win all the matches that we play in. And the only way is to be on the offensive and play with confidence no matter who we are up against,” said Benny (pic). In the meantime, Indonesia have moved their final training phase to the province of Sawangan – away from the pressure of Jakarta. “I believe that the situation in Sawangan is more conducive for the players to concentrate where they will be away from the glare of the public eyes,” he added. For the record, Indonesia are in Group A of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008 where they will be up against Singapore, Myanmar and Cambodia. In the meantime, defending champions Singapore were held to a 2-2 draw by Malaysia in a friendly match that was played at the Stadium MBPJ tonight. Aleksandr Duric nailed a double with goals in the 10th and 44th minute as Malaysia replied through Amirulhadi Zainal in the 22nd minute and Mohd Hardi Jaafar in the 75th minute. |
