JAKARTA (14 Aug 2011) – Former Arema Indonesia coach Robert Rene Alberts is set to make a return to Indonesian football – this time with Persija Jakarta.
The Dutchman who led Arema to their first Indonesia Super League (ISL) crown in 2010, left PSM Makassar earlier this year due to a certain dispute with the club managers.
But with current Persija coach Rachmad Darmawan set to sign a two-year contract to be the chief coach of the Indonesia Under-23 team, the team management at Persija have had to look for viable options.
And Alberts name has just emerged as the frontrunner.
“One of the candidate is Rene. The truth is that there are four other candidates which we are considering. But at this time, we are not at liberty to announce who they are as yet,” said Ferry Paulus, the president of Persija Jakarta.
”We have approached several coaches and they are either from Eastern Europe or Asia.”
