JAKARTA (25 May 2015) – In spite of the current turmoil which is hanging over Indonesian football at the moment, Under-23 coach Aji Santoso is keeping things in perspective ahead of their participation at the SEA Games which begins on 29 May in Singapore.
The FA of Indonesia (PSSI) are currently under the threat of suspension by FIFA where they have been given the dateline on 29 May to sort out their deadlock with the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Failure to reach an agreement meant that the PSSI may be slapped with an automatic two year suspension which in turn could destroy Indonesia’s desire to win the men’s football gold medal at the SEA Games.
“I told them at every training session to keep things positive and not lose focus. They have to look forward and not think of what’s happening outside the pitch. I don’t want their state of mind to be affected. With just days to go to kick-off, it can be a problem,” said Aji.
“And so far, the players have been very well committed to training where they have put it at least 100% dedication.”
Indonesia’s first game of the SEA Games will be against Myanmar on 2 June.
